Mentor Graphics Announces Comprehensive Support for the Altera Stratix Device Family
WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 2002--Continuing its
support for the programmable logic industry's most advanced
architectures, Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq:MENT - news) today announced support
for the Stratix(TM) device family from Altera Corporation.
Close technology collaboration between the two companies has
yielded a front-to-back design and verification solution that allows
Altera customers to maximize the performance of the Stratix devices.
"Our Stratix device family delivers the fastest performance in the
programmable logic industry," said Tim Southgate, Altera's vice
president of software and tools marketing. "To extract performance
like this requires a close partnership with the EDA community. Over
the last nine months, Mentor Graphics has worked with us throughout
the design process to tailor its products to our customer needs."
To support the performance requirements of the Stratix
architecture, Mentor Graphics offers a full suite of programmable
logic device (PLD) solutions, including products for design creation,
verification, co-verification, embedded systems, intellectual property
and FPGA-on-board. In addition, Mentor's STAR-award winning Customer
Support team is available for all of its programmable logic solutions.
"To develop applications based on the Stratix architecture,
Altera's customers require easy-to-use, high-performance tools
specifically designed for the requirements of complex programmable
logic design," said Anne Sanquini, vice president and general manager
of the HDL Design Division at Mentor Graphics. "Mentor's collaboration
with Altera enables our mutual customers to create, verify and produce
designs faster, reducing their time from concept to production."
About the Stratix Device Family from Altera
Stratix devices are based on a 1.5-V, 0.13-micron, all-layer
copper SRAM process, with densities ranging from 10,570 to 114,140
logic elements (LEs) and up to 10 Mbits of RAM. Stratix devices offer
up to 28 DSP blocks with up to 224 embedded multipliers, optimized for
DSP applications that require high data processing. Stratix devices
support various differential I/O electrical standards such as LVDS,
LVPECL, PCML, and HyperTransport, as well as high-speed interfaces,
including UTOPIA IV, SPI-4 Phase 2, SFI-4, 10G Ethernet XSBI, RapidIO,
HyperTransport, and others. Stratix devices also offer a complete
clock management solution with its hierarchical clock structure and up
to 12 phase-locked loops (PLLs). More technical information about the
Stratix device family is available at www.altera.com/stratix.
